I guess I won't be uploading any photos of me in my Andy Stankiewicz jersey at Fack Youk...
psh, this doesn't top my Alvaro Espinoza custom shirt...
Matt supposedly has a Tony Fernandez one that he's been meaning to wear to a game this year.
Now batting, second baseman, number 2, Mike Gallego. Number 2.
The Tony Fenandez one has been retired since Melky hit for the cycle. I don't know if anyone knows this or not, but before Melky hit for the cycle on August 2nd, Tony Fernandez was the last Yankee to do it. You never hear about that.During that debacle of a 24-4 game in April there were a bunch of guys sitting in my section wearing custom 1980s t shirts: Gary Ward, Ken Phelps, maybe Jack Clark and Claudell Washington.
How about my custom made Horace Clarke jersey?
oh I got one - Don Slaught
I saw an old Latino dude walking around in a #57 jersey a month or so back. Based on his age, I think it might have actually been Juan Bonilla.
I remember that cycle from Fernandez, Matt. I was also at the Yanks game in Chicago for Melky's cycle August 2, celebrating my 40th birthday with the family. I've actually got a long post with pictures up at Heartland Pinstripes on the game, for anyone interested. When Melky got up before his triple, I yelled out, "C'mon Melky!" Some bitter Sox fan responded, "Melky's a punk," to which a Yanks fan just across the aisle from us yelled, "Melky's about to hit for the cycle." Two pitches later, Melky hit for the cycle. The guy totally called it, and we cheered him after screaming for Melky as he scampered to third.Great moment, and a fun win.
Glad you got to see that game Jason - quite a birthday gift.I have no recollection of the Fernandez cycle, I'd just grown tired of hearing about it whenever a Yankee was in position to hit for one. I was hoping that Melky's would put an end to that, but surprisingly, I've heard more about Tony Fernandez since then than before then. It's become a bit of a running joke between Jay and me.
